Synopsis

Dance Lexie Dance is the award winning short film from Raw Nerve Productions, from Derry in Northern Ireland. Set in Derry, it tells the story of Lexie (BJ Hogg), a single parent struggling to balance his night shifts with his lively, 10 year old daughter, who dreams of being a Riverdancer.

Lexie and Laura live on the isolated banks of the River Foyle near Derry. Lexie did not ask to be a single parent. Life would be much simpler for him if his wife was still around. His daughter, Laura, is proving to be more of a handful and now that she is growing up.

Out of the Blue, Laura confesses that her dream of becoming a Riverdancer. Lexie dismisses this as ridiculous but soon realises that he must find a way of communicating with his daughter. Despite his clumsy efforts, he helps her to become an Irish dancer and through the fun they have together, Lexie learns to laugh again.

Dance Lexie Dance is from the Northern Lights series, a scheme for the production of short films by local film makers. The series was funded by the Northern Ireland Film Council and BBC Television Drama Northern Ireland.
