NEW RECRUITS FOR ITS COURSES
The Nerve Centre is now accepting applicants for it's award winning courses.
There are a number of Full Time training opportunities with accredited courses available in Interactive Media, Sound Recording, Television and Video Production and Music Performance and Production.
Application forms are now available and enrolment will take place throughout August for full-time courses beginning in September 2007. Courses available include;
DIPLOMA IN MEDIA TECHNIQUES
Television and Video
City & Guilds Level 3
This comprehensive video production techniques course provides students with the opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to create high quality video productions.
All areas (pre-production, production and post-production) are thoroughly
investigated theoretically and practically with particular attention being paid to scriptwriting, story boarding, camera techniques, lighting, editing and effects.
Participants work on a diverse range of productions, short dramas, pop videos and promotional videos for local groups as well as playing an active role in the
international Foyle Film Festival.
* Assessment is by examination and practical work.
* Start date: September 2007.

DIPLOMA IN MEDIA TECHNIQUES
Creative Media & Design
City & Guilds NVQ Level 3
Considering a career within the Media Industry? Gain skills and knowledge of the essential elements of quality media production, including sound, video, graphic design and Flash animation using industry standard software and equipment.
If you have ever wanted to do a course that has its finger on the pulse and covers all the creative media bases in this fast moving environment, then this course may well be the one for you.
Former trainees are working in related careers of graphic design, web design and DVD building.
* Assessment is by examination and practical work.
* Start date: September 2007.

SOUND RECORDING TECHNIQUES

Level 3 
Participants receive expert advice and training in all areas of sound recording from experienced and qualified sound engineers. This course provides a practical hands-on learning experience in the recording process using state of the art facilities.
Musicians, prospective sound engineers, budding producers and DJs are just some of the people who utilise the resources available to record artists, learn about the latest digital recording technology, mixing, effects, processors and staple recording techniques such as overdubbing, drop-ins and editing.
Former trainees are now working in various positions within the music industry
as recording studio managers, engineers, stage technicians, recording artists, music retailers and producers.
* Assessment is completion of portfolio and practical examination.
* Start Date: September 2007.

MUSIC PERFORMANCE & TECHNOLOGY

Level 3
This year the Nerve Centre has re-configured its music course, with a concentrated focus on the performing musician. Anyone considering a career in the music industry will find the range of practical skills and knowledge offered on this course invaluable.
This course provides a comprehensive look at the creative side of music with new units in songwriting, dj techniques and digital music composition; you will also be given the opportunity to work and crew on Nerve Centre events as part of the course.
Participants will also learn about midi, sound recording and sound reinforcement (PA).

ELIGIBILITY
Full Time Courses: To be eligible for full time courses applicants need to
be at least 16 years of age. Applications from school leavers aged 16 years and over are welcome.
Allowances: Educational Maintenance Allowances are payable to those participants who are eligible.
