Stinger
Featuring two former sergeants of the Soviet Army and a former officer of the Russian Army the troops set up camp to rest after completing a mission. They share the luxury of a bottle of vodka, while the youngest soldier yearns to return home to his mother. On return to base the troops stumble upon an American manufactured missile launcher. Writer of STINGER, Tony Melarkey travelled to Russia to research this project, which spawned from his interest in Soviet/Russian military. Funded by the Northern Ireland film and Television Commission, STINGER is one of the latest projects from Raw Nerve Productions that will be premiered as part of the Foyle Film Festival. Directed by Tony Melarkey and Vincent O'Callaghan, the film was shot in the north of Ireland and St. Petersburgh. Other local input came from actors Colin Stewart ('Red & Blue' BBC Drama; 'Are You Looking For Me' Channel 4; 'Resevoir Dogs' Playhouse Theatre), Jeff Hunter and Chris McQuarry ('Sunday' and Carlsberg ad.) and the crew of trainees from the Nerve Centre's City & Guilds Media Techniques course. With Russian language and English subtitles. |
